Project Atlas.
Enhancing the student experience through quantitative research.
Let’s Get Quantitative.
It all started with an idea. How could we complement our ability as fundamental investors with rapidly innovating quantitative concepts?
Spear headed by our new Head of Quantitative Research, Luke Hangen, and supported by our President, Zach Marshall, and Head Trader, Vincent Rotunno, Project Atlas aims to solve a massive need in the Golden Age of OUSEMG.
The three are utilizing the help of close to half of all OUSEMG members to pull off what was thought to be a long shot: building a stock selection algorithm to complement their fundamental analysis. Now, with the brainpower to do just that, the group is excited to begin to build something to talk about.
Project Atlas is Born.
At its Core.
Project Atlas is the umbrella project name encompassing all of the fundamental tasks that give the group a lot of unnecessary friction. These tasks will be automated with quantitative and technical ability.
Atlas is the name of our new proprietary stock-picking algorithm. Atlas will be an innovative solution to complement our fundamental analysis and “back-half” of our reports (DCF, models, appendices, etc.). The group plans to tackle the creation of Atlas with the help of professors, alumni, and industry mentors. OUSEMG is also seeking out qualified candidates who seek to differentiate themselves.
Project Atlas not only creates a lasting impact on the group and university but also creates a sizeable opportunity for members to build quantitative skills that are increasingly marketable to the best employers in finance. As Wall Street gets more quantitative, so too shall we.

“Project Atlas will allow us to eliminate unnecessary friction in our workflows and allow us to get back to what we love doing most - picking stocks.”
— Zach Marshall, OUSEMG President
